Shower Curtain Chronicles: Thursday January 8 at the Capitol

Shower Curtain Chronicles

Latex painted shower curtains make great, cheap, waterproof banners to display at demonstrations, over freeways or anyplace you want to take it to the anti-gay, anti-Constitution fascists. This blog will feature banners I've made over the years, commentary on the outrages du jour, general observations and accounts of the latest actions by our blog troop as we wield the bathroom accessory cum political billboard.

Thursday January 8 at the Capitol

I started the day out with a pass through the State Office Building looking for potential co-sponsors. Representative Bill Hilty from Finlayson was in his office and signed on after a brief pitch, bringing the House total to 18.

The Senate had a floor session at 11. I was joined by David DeGrio for shower curtain duty in front of the Senate. Thank you David! He got right into it and pitched a senator for co-authorship of the bill.

David also spoke with Rep. Joe Mullery, the chair of the committee the bill will be going to, and obtained important information about Mullery's support level. He'll vote for it but we need more than that from him as committee chair.

If you live in Joe Mullery's district, please call his office, 651-296-4262, and thank him for his support but also ask him to fight for passage of the Marriage and Family Protection Act in his committee, the Civil Justice Committee.
